Hello,

I've been using Terragen 2 for just a week now but I'm confused on where displacement for varying rock formations should take place.

I create simple rolling hills as terrain. If I want to create sudden sharp rock peaks along the sides of those hills, does that happen as a shader or is that a new terrain blended-in to the hills?

Thanks!

depends, if you put them in the terrain area (before the Compute Terrain Node) the displacements will be seen as terrain and can be further manipulated.

You can also put them in the shader area, but lack the above benefits (unless you slap a 2nd compute terrain in I guess).  Depends on what you plan on doing with those rocks.

I make the large scale terrain manipulation in the Terrain Tab area. I make the small scale displacements in the Shader Tab.
