I would like to import trueSpace 7.6 object files into Terragen 2. Is there a direct method or even a conversion software I can use. I searched the forum, but didn't find any explicit info. Thanks for an exceptional forum.

I'm pretty sure you need to export it as an "obj" type.  I used a free plugin to do that when I used TS 6.6.  I just looked at 7.6 and realized how hard (at least for me) it is to find what I'm looking for -- hovering over a myriad of icons.  ;D

You then may need to use PoseRay to prepare the object for TG.  There's plenty of threads that reference PoseRay in these forums.

I have successfully imported models from Truespace 6.6. Here is how I did it. First in truespace triangulate the mesh, this is important to stop holes in the mesh caused n-gons, then export to 3ds (TS 6.6 has no obj exporter). Then import the mesh into Poseray and save again as .obj, now you can import into Terragen.
Hope this helps.

Well, I know I was able to export OBJ from TS 6.6.  I used this plugin: http://pinacoderm.com/tsx/luuv/

I believe the Microsoft free release of TS 7.6 included that plugin, but will have to check.

[edit] Yes, it does.  Take a look in your ts/tsx directory.

Thanks again for saving me a lot of hair pulling.

I was able to export a tS object just fine. What's the easiest way to convert to terragen object format?

Don't have any other graphic software, but a few years ago there was a free viewer, converter software for many types of 3d files. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Load your obj into Terragen and then go to the node network and find the Object block.  You should see your obj listed.  Right click on it and do a "Save object file..."  This will save it as a .tgo

Perfect, that opens all kinds of image possibilities.
