Hi guys,

a little animation of my cloudy day preset: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AfkFZGx_JQ
(available here for free http://store.nwdanet.com/terragen2store/6-terragen-2-presets/7-atmosphere-a-clouds.html )

.. unfortunately this animation:
- has flicker
- doesn't show the last second, where clouds become lit from the underside

But I'm rendering it again with fill lights and higher quality now. Should be done later in the evening.

Regards,
Frank

looking real nice Frank, look forward to seeing the next one!

very very realistic animation on the clouds !!!
too bad for the flickers, did you try with GI off ?

FrankB

Hi Franck, thanks. I'm rendering with fill lights now, GI off.
Per frame, GI looks much better, but it's a relief to see it flicker free :)

The animation needs 2 more hours, and maybe an hour for encoding and uploading, so you can see the fill lights version later tonight.

Cheers,
Frank

here is the update. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1hnr8drUTo

quality is still quite sucky with youtube, though.

The animation is great. I have yet to experiment with the Terragen animation features and your work helps give me drive to check it out.

great job !
i hope we'll be able to do that with GI without flickering soon ;)

Nice results! Why is it flickering with GI? Was there also an issue with the cloud acceleration cache?

it's flickering with GI because GI flickers. There's not much that can be done about it at the moment, however flickering can be reduced with the right settings, but they cost render time. I find the fill light setup is a good solution to the problem. I haven't even optimized the default fill light setup. If I had, it would have looked even better, close to the GI version.

Ah, ok, that's it! ;D Looks very promising anyway :)
