Hello there,
I´ve been trying to get running water in my image for some time now.
here is a promising way, but my old machine doesn´t want to  do it for me.
Therefore the sluglike greenish thing in the second image.
I exportet the hightfield as lwo, which works fine.
then I simulated the water flowing where I wanted it to flow in Blender.
That needs more cpu and ram than I have if you want a decent resolution.
Reimport the water as objekt, watershader, there it is, the blob.
Long story  short: maybe with enough ram to simulate flowing water with some resolution, you could get interesting results

Help, attack of the killer-blob! ;D
The colours are very interesting! :)

Thanks MacGyver .
I thought of a landscape that doesn´t get wet very often.
I also thought, that the idea of an animated fluid-object could be of interest.
Only thing is, my version isn´t very impressive besides the blob-effect.
But blender should be able of nice cascades-given enough cpu- and ram-power.
I would like to see that.
Maybe i have to try it again with some more patience.

I have done many fluid sims using Blender. It is hard to get thin 'blobs' to spread correctly. They tend to clump and become too large for say a creek sim.
There is another way to do this. Build your object for the water so it conforms to the landscape with the correct depth. Import this into T2. Then using Blender, make a series of images of flowing water. This can be done using animated procedural materials and textures.
If the camera in Blender and Terragen 2 are set up correctly, the images will match for a camera projection in T2. There is a book on Blender which has a good example of how to do this. I loaned it out and never got it back; I can't think of the name. It's not 'Essential Blender'.

Thanks njeneb.
I had the same problems with the "blobs" and thought this was due to the small resolution my old pc is capable of calculating.
Good to know!
