Great twisty shapely canyon. The tree is a great match, please explore more.

inkydigit

thanks Kevin, I intend to... there are some flaws in the way I threw this together... some errant displacements etc... & some other things that I would like to tweak, also some other ideas for different scenes based around a canyon... I will keep you posted...

What is the inspiration for the canyon stone? Is it like a real place, or is it imagination?
It has been eaten.

inkydigit

thanks TB... imagination was the driving force here.
I started with the idea of rendering a scene with the tree, thought about what ideas I wanted to purvey... opened TG and let the image evolve, tweaking along the way...

Looking real good Jason. I also have been trying to come up with something that would make a good composition using this model.

What technique did you use for the Canyon?
Cool pic btw :)
Mouthwash? We don't need no stinking mouthwash!! [MI2]

@ra and Jo,

I used a combination of techniques really...the canyon uses a similar technique to Goms's (http://en.tgblog.de/?p=26), funnily enough I just spotted 'Methuselah' in the text...coincidence or influence, I am not sure, it has been a while since I visited there!!
I also used some of the displacement techniques similar to the ones I used here: http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=12716.msg126465#msg126465
I concentrated more on height restricted stretched power fractals though, with a pinch of strata/redirects and voronoi!!
(well spotted Jo!)
:)
cheers
