"Warped Strata" and "Alpine Dawn"
July 23, 2010, 05:19:33 AM
Two new ones here.
"Warped Strata" is my attempt at adding geological bends and twists to the strata. The same technique is also used in the next image "Alpine Dawn" along with two Alpine Fractals.
C&C welcome as always.
Enjoy and thanks for looking.
cheers
Richard

Very impressive on the strata, and the Alpine shot is excellent.

I like 'em both! Hey, Richard - there are folks that would love to know how to do that. How about sharing your discovery?
They're all wasted!

Beautiful work Richard. I believe in both, I maybe need a reference in scale in the first, maybe a little less displacement, or variation in displacement, even so, really interesting strata structure you've created.

The volume lighting looks fantastic, Richard. Digging the Strata image as well.

Thanks for the positave feedback guys
The warped strata trice is pretty simple really. Its a re-direct shader (pf in the y channel) that is "pre-canclled" out by a copy of the pf with all settings the same except the displacement is negative and placed higher up the chain. I've upped a simplified tgd file to

Both are excellent photo-realistic scenes.
That's what's great about TG2; there are so many ways to find creative solutions.
