Cirrus Sunset

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, it was an experiment with high cirrus cloud formations that got a bit out of hand. There's some serious GI clipping in the lower right section by the horizon, I think maybe upping the blur radius might help but I'm not sure. Thanks to dandleO for helping me with the warped lines mask :)
The landscape is a rubbish, but I put no effort into it. I'm thinking of going a classic route, a beach with palms somewhere in the South P$acific but that sounds a bit lame. Maybe go a scifi direction instead ...

I think that the top layer of clouds may be too stretched out. They look like con-trails. I think I would also mask the lower layer so the coverage isn't so general.
If you are going for something alien, the upper clouds may work well. Sort of a gas giant formation.

Yes, the lines might be a bit too much stretched, but since it's function-based you have to start with that as a base, so perhaps you might just try to displace them a bit more.

Regarding you clipping GI: do you perhaps use any very small scales in your terrain? I've occassionaly the same problem when using exotic displacements. It doesn't look like you have those, but perhaps some very small scale stuff going on? Sometimes it helps to replace your planet and atmosphere with a new one.

Lines a bit too regular for my taste, but the colours sure are nice.

The render errors low-right may also be due to the cloud Acceleration Cache. You can try turning that off. Martin's idea is also a possibility.
