I've been working a bit more on this scene, (original here http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=10381.msg107052#msg107052) and I think I've got most of the main elements in place now. Thanks to Hetzen and Dune for their suggestions, which I've mostly followed. The render I'm showing here isn't fully finished, (note to self: soft shadows are NOT a good idea for a test render  :D) but everything important is visible.

So does anyone have any thoughts on final tweaks? I think I will be making the fake stones a bit less bright, and perhaps reducing the density of the boulders (rock population) on the far shore. Possibly also introducing a little more variation in the green ground cover. And while I love this pine model, I wish the trunks were a bit thicker - is there any simple way to do this??

Comments welcome.

And here, just for fun, is a clip from the development.

I would say that the trees are too large. I would also add more plants for ground cover. This will increase the render time, but I think it would look better.
Pink rocks? Has there been an artist draping cloth on the rocks?  ;D

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

Thanks for stopping by Henry. I'd prefer to keep the ground cover sparse and licheny, and I'm also quite happy with the scale of the trees.
