FLOATING ISLAND DEMO

A demonstration scene of the floating island technique. Let me know if anything is unclear.

It uses the Sweet Birch Xfrog tree model available [links expired].
Let me know if this is helpful, I've tried to make the nodes fairly self explanatory.
One point of note is that "Cast Shadows" has to be turned off on the plane model as the masking of the plane dose not mask the shadow, so the shadow is projected as a full square shadow, not the shape of the island!

Enjoy

Thank you for sharing this. I remember when you posted the first image using this technique. Great work.

Your very welcome
Just a quick note, if you want to "crag up" with lateral displacements the vertical surfaces add in a compute terrain and a surface (or more ;) )layer between the two default layers.

Going to have a look at this for sure! Will post something made with it. :D

As a note, I think xFrog EULA prevents direct links and distribution because people need to first agree to the ToS, License, and Privacy Policy via checkout. (How they maintain who uses their free non-commercial assets)

I believe those are the free ones from the planetside site if I'm not mistaken....Richard is very ethical
