First test of a slot canyon.  Just a small image so far, more to come...

You must have used a lot of exposure here. I like the variations in the rock walls.

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

Very good start Ryan. On of the things with slot canyons is the smoothness of the walls which is created by thousands of years of water running through them. Visit 'Arizona Highways' magazine for info and pics on these - also, Google may be a good source for reference.

Once when hiking through southeastern Utah, we discovered one of these. Actually, kind of scary since we found this open crack in the ground. If one was not careful, they might have fallen into it. We were close to the edge and dropped a rock into it. I kid you not, it took about four seconds before we heard a sound - then, a splash. We were not equipped to rope down - but, one could only imagine what was down there.

Good luck on this; looking forward to your progress.

Here is a shot taken from a site on Google.

Thanks Bob,  Antelope canyon is a truly magical sort of place.  I'm not entirely sure the direction I am going to take this one, but it will most likely be based off a more local (to me) slot canyon:

You are welcome Ryan. The Nihahi Creek Canyon here is beautiful. Except for the colors of rock in your area, the shapes and forms of these slot canyons are quite similar to ours.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

really nice surfaces and structure Ryan, funnily enough, I too am working on a similar project...thanks to you and Bob for the links to the photos as well .

Nice one, RArcher. I little more open at the bottom and not as high exposure of the sky, I think. Cool.

Bob, your reference photo kind of reminds me of an older TG image I made. Although, with far, far nicer lighting! :D

Yes Martin, these slot cantons are beautiful; but, once the sun is overhead, move in a hurry to get out - or else you might be in the dark.
