While needing a break from my other image, I turned to experimenting with other stuff.
Here's that new rock surface that came out while playing along.
C&C welcome, as always, but remember this is a low res test, please.

best regards,
Frank

The colour is excellent. The displacements likewise. Well played!

Displacements are looking good!

Your bluffing, I'm sure  ;D
Looks like a photo I saw recently
The high reversion will be very believable.

Hey, this *does* look like my Zion Canyon pics. ;D Contrast and saturation are a bit high IMHO (though I think my browser might be doing some odd color "correction"). Otherwise looking great. The only thing I'm not sure about is scale...

Looks great. It also reminds me of the current project I am rendering, which makes it all the better. It will be cool to compare the two.

really nice colouring here ;D
I personally don't think the green strata at the bottom fits with the scene either i would make it more pronounced and have sort of plateau buildup of terrace soft terraces with a distribution of small rocks on top laced with grass. i think the cracks and fissures on the upper rocks should be more pronounced as well.
