Volcano or worm hole. Terrain imported from World Machine.

Hey Traveller2, Rather than just keep throwing out pic after pic (some of which are quite nice), why not tell us about how you made the scene or the motivation behind it, or for some alternative points of view based on a critical appraisal? Are you a complete newbie? What other software have you experience of?  etc.
I like your work, but get the feeling your churning them out, without much thought.

Greetings:

Thank you for the compliment. Since you asked: I am a newbie to the forum. Lest you think, I am just churning out new Terragen scenes every 10 minutes, the images I have put out to date were created over a period of years using Terragen.

I have worked with World Machine (posted two images to the World Machine gallery), Vue (started with version 2 and am now using 8), Mojoworld (now defunct), WorldBuilder (now defunct), and, of course, Terragen starting from one of the very first versions (specifically, Version .7).

Yes, I admit that I was putting the stuff out too quickly and will now slow down a lot. Thanks for calling me on that. Went a bit overboard.

I am a beginner scene creation artist for sure. Some of the stuff I have seen on this site, I could only dream about creating.

I always have a rough idea about what I want to create: trees near a lake, a forest with the sun shining through, etc. However, I also follow the belief that the scene you want to create is already there and just waiting to be shown. I have also found that if I overthink a scene, it usually spoils it.

Cool, now I know where to place you.
Nice to know you've been around with TG for a while (it shows).
I agree that most final scenes are already there and that they just need to be teased out.

Keep up the creative work and welcome aboard. If you need constructive advice, most people around here are very helpful and can offer useful tips and positive criticism.
