The surface was like that when rendered. It's actually white snow but the lighting threw it off  :'(

If you wanted the snow to still appear you could just add another sun, not in view, with a lower strength.
Heard of computer graphics? CG? Terragen 2, the landscape generating program, also known as TG, a whole cool way to create realistic CG - with TG.
