I feel it's where most important settings  probably are to reach realistic cloud appearance but I  absolutely have no idea what influence they give. It's like a lottery for me. Sometimes I am able to reach a good, naturally shaped clouds  but then I rotate my camera to some degree and the clouds turns to an utter mess.  There is very few information in the node reference.  Whould be great to find more info, with pictures maybe for better understanding the difference all those settings create.

I have been having 'luck' using a power fractal. Use about 1/2 the clouds density scale and lead in scales. 10 seems to work for the smallest scale. Then I hit random until things look ok. Takes two or three randoms. Then just move the sliders slightly. It's not very exact, but it seems to work.
