Thanks to the people who helped me over a year ago to figure out how to make burning coals.  This was first rendered in TG2, then...

  • I used PhotoMatix to create a bright TIF and then a contrasty somewhat dark TIF
  • I then put these two images into Photoshop and changed the bright TIF to screen and the dark TIF to overlay (on top)
  • Finally, I did an overlay layer of 50% grey and used the dodge and burn tools
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Great surface, Calico. It loses quality quite rapidly into the distance due to the bright glow, I'd think, maybe the postwork, but the foreground is fantastic!

very nice calico!.......

Really nice Calico, looks just like flowing cooling lava. How about using localised clouds for smoke just above it?

Thanks guys for your comments.  It's been so long since I've posted an image, I forgot what it's like.

@Kevin - I'll think about the clouds...good idea.

@dandelO - Doing postwork, I almost ignored the background and focused mainly on the foreground.

@inky -  ;D
