Ok, ok! This last one helped me work out some issues on the other. Now where was that camera location? ::)

I found the camera...

I added Marc Gebhart's magnolia, and Walli's DNS flower. I reduced the grass object size. I plan on adding Walli's weeds in another render.
The mafnolias are in the pine covered creek bed. I'll add the creek later also.

Ok, back on track :)

Now, I suggest you push these trees a little farther away, as their geometry is a little too rough for close-ups I think.
And most importantly, you need more than twice the density of grass instances in the foreground. It's enough to have the first 10m popuated with a higher density, at this camera altitude.
I also suggest you go to the transform tab of the gras *object* and put a 2 or 3 into the box for the x axis. This will tilt the grass by 3 degrees, but as the populator rotates each instance, you will have a lot of variation.

Regards,
Frank

I agree with Frank that the grass needs a lot more density in the foreground.

Henry Blewer

I am working on that foreground now. I have put lots of weeds there. I am tweaking the grass density now.

I made the foreground grass too dense; the weeds are hidden. Rendered at detail 0.325 and AA 4.

nice! is that a mole hill I see?
:)

Henry Blewer

No, it's a weed. Maybe I should make gopher holes. ::)

Hiding the weed is a good thing Henry; seriously, you've done a goodie here - like the view and textures of the grasses.

looks like a great place to roll down the hill...what about some flowers? daisies maybe?

It's really cool! And thethe presence of of flowers adds originality ... :P

Ran out of memory during the final render. I am going to try using procedural grass in the distance. (I watched the populator, there was nearly 8 million grass objects! Looking forward to my 32 GB machine ::))
