Memory leak on 2.2.23.1?

This is weird. I'm using v2.2.23.1 and I'm still getting memory leaks in Terragen 2 Deep Edition enough though it says in the patch notes:

QuoteFixed some rendering related memory leaks which could be quite considerable with larger images and/or rendering animations. (Some of these leaks were new in 2.2.)

I'm rendering scenes at 1980x1080 and using 4GBs of memory with my Intel Core 2 Quad at 2.5GHz.

My render settings are at 4 for both Minimum and Maximum threads, subdiv cache size at 400 (default), prellocate option unchecked with Details at 1 and AA at 3. I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing Terragen 2 and I'm still getting memory leaks.

My system looses memory everytime I render but when I pause it, everything works fine. I've also upgraded my video card driver to the latest version.

Need help!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Can you please describe more about how you are detecting the memory leaks? What are you seeing happening?

Regards,

Jo

"Lag with stuttering" rendering(s) is the only way I can put it.

Really? No replies?

My system can handle Terragen 2 but I've never a problem like this.

Do you mean when you do a render your system do not responds very well to you?
Multy tasking and such gets worse at rendering time and when you pause the render the problem goes away , Blackheart6004 ?
I f this is your problem please look here. It doesn't look like a memory leak to me but i could be wrong of course :)

Yes, thank you!

Apparently, Terragen 2 is somehow using up 4 of my cores rather than my RAM. So what i did is do the Override option and set it to 3 just by using 3 cores, the same you did in your post :):

QuoteWhen i use TG2 with all of the 4 cores my pc is barely useful for anything else .
But when i set 3 cores for TG2 i can use my web browser or anything i want easily with the last core.

Again, thank you Kadri for helping me solve my problem and now I can use my computer and Terragen 2 smoothly. :D

I need to use the search more often XD.

And for Jo, I apologize for making this post going under as "memory leak". I thought it was or wasn't a memory so leak so I did the post just to make sure.

You don't need to change the override function in the settings to avoid usage of all of your cores:

Set min threads @ 1 and max threads @ 3 in your rendernode and it won't use more than 3 cores, by definition.

Also one good thing to note is that you can set the ammount of threads an application is able to use from task manager, "set affinity" function. That is presuming you're on windows. All programs aren't as adjustable thread wise, as terragen is. :P
