Hey everyone,

I have a planet shot I am working on from an orbital perspective and want to add an illmination map to simulate cities on the dark side of the planet. Any idea how I can acheive this?

Thanks

Andrew

can you create a spherical projection map(b+w) to mask the luminosity function of a defualt shader applied to the planet?

Yeah and if you dont happen to have your illumination map in spherical form you can always use camera to project it or the others PlanY etc.
But if you do have your spherical map, you need to remember to set the geometric origin to same as your planets, otherwise it wont work.
Also you might need some high luminosity values so dont hesitate to go beyond the bar

A spherical image map of lights used as luminosity function with the default shader works well. Luminosity value of 1 is enough as long as you don't need the lights to shine through clouds or a dense atmosphere. I just posted this btw: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=11852.0
