Distributed rendering PC and Mac

I had a few questions about distributed rendering across platforms.  I just have one Mac and one PC available and was wondering, to do this, do I have to have two separate licenses (one for PC and one for Mac) even though my license came with render node licenses?

Also, is distributed rendering limited to a whole frame per-machine?  That is, is the "distributed" aspect just that each machine renders a separate frame, or can they both contribute CPU cycles to rendering the same image?

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, you can mix platforms for render nodes. You should be aware that there can be differences between the rendered results on the Mac and PC so mixing frames from each platform might not work out. These differences come from differences between the way the operating systems on each platform do maths.

The only way to share the rendering of a single image between machines is to use crop regions so each machine renders different crops of the same image. You might run into trouble with GI issues across crops. There's lots of information on the forums about this though, so try searching.
