Created this today - first model using Terragen 2 and Xfrog plants. Not 100% happy with the ground cover but practice makes perfect. There are some startling images and I hope one day to be able to produce something worthy!

great start, I like the light and mood, pity about the square branches though, maybe push these trees further back and add some more detailed trees in the foreground?

Jonathan

Thanks Inkydigit - I will take your advice on board - on my second now (hadn't read your comments by then), but will post it anyway then try to take on board your advice - I have worked out that using rotation means I won't get rows of ground cover!

Here is my second attempt - similar theme, but using water...

Very nice second render ...the lighting here works very well in this composition.

A Change of scene....a misty day on England.....have to say I am quite pleased!  :)

looks good, maybe the foreground trees make it seem like you are hiding?
maybe adding some focal point in the mid ground/distance?

Jonathan

Sounds like an idea - I guess I was trying to emulate the hazy feel you get in the UK, with trees up on a hill and a dull light behind....working on a slightly different scene now - at the end of the day it is helping me to understand TG and experiment! Thanks for the suggestions though  ;)

Looks like I am still hiding!

That's good progress. My only crit at this stage is to maybe tone down the green of your grass a little.

Renegade26

Excellent composition - like a real photographer!

Jonathan

I agree the grass is a little bright - will work on that and re-render...and here is another pic - thanks to moodflow for helping me understand how to use shaders to build up rocks!
