A simple composition using the following:

•   Walli's Dry Shrubs available at NWDA.
•   Walli's Wild Grasses.
•   dandelO's Stones/rocks available at Planetside Forum.
•   dandelO's Night Background available at Planetside Forum.
•   Terrade's Dead Tree available at Ashundar.

Additionally, have a look at this thread at the Planetside forum for: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=8393.msg106053#msg106053 . This gives the information and links for adding planet mapping to your planets. I got the mapping for the Moon from the links listed by The BlackHole.

Aside from the banding in the sky which I tried to eliminate by reducing the 'Haze Power', the image could possibly be improved upon. Would appreciate your suggestions.

Enjoy.

Very well done, Bob. I really like this. Very subtle and the moon is magnificent. My suggestion would be to reduce the size of that tree by half, maybe replace it by a more crooked (not so simple) one, and shove it aside, so it doesn't interfere with the moon.

Very moody render! I like it  ;D
Mouthwash? We don't need no stinking mouthwash!! [MI2]

Thanks Ulco, I do have a Monterrey Cypress that has a crooked trunk except that the foliage is kind of funky; and, is not very broad in reaching. A thought might be to place it so as to be on the right side and more in the foreground/close up. Maybe I'll play with that idea.

Thanks ra, it is a simple composition; and, it didn't take very long to put together and render (little more than 2 hours).

If you have a nice tree, you can always set the leaves opacity to 0, to make it a dead tree...

Now that's a great idea Ulco, I didn't know that. I will give it a try. Thank you.

Just a snipping of a quick render. Is this what you had in mind Ulco?

I like where this is going Bob, keep at it...that moon looks spectacular!

Dune

That's great, Bob. I like this a lot more. Perhaps try another one with the tree a lot smaller, just hitting the moon (that's what I would do, at least).

Henry Blewer

This latest render looks much more natural. Sorry to say this, but the tree in the first looked bad. It might look right in a burned forest though.

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

This is the final hopefully trying to make better use of the last model.

Dune

Nice Bob. The tree is like an alliteration of the moon, same shape, kind of hugging the moon's edge. Although an even smaller version of the tree would be equally nice I guess.

inkydigit

beautiful, like the tree is almost dancing with the moon!
