I've got a lame deal from Qwest that only gives me something like 2mpbs, but while living in Paris I had a lightning-fast 20mbps internet - the wireless network it was on was actually the slowest part of the pipeline.

that's the great thing being so close to other countries... like in Asia with  100mbit both ways, with is becoming the norm.  though if you are the lucky one to be on the Paris 1.2gbit home interweb

though its only good with huge/unlimited data caps...

1500/256 ....is fast, but slow compared to the rest of the world.
At least our government's starting to realise that...

discoball, same here. unbundling, naked dsl, telco separation all coming this year:D... though telstra  aus, and telecon nz, herehave had their monopolies for far too long
