This is one of my favorite games on this years "My Favorite" list and it's releasing this summer and that game is called From Dust.

From the developers of Ubisoft, in this sandbox/God game (similar to Black and White and/or Minecraft), players use a spherical cursor, the user controls certain types of matter, namely soil, lava, water, and vegetation, in real time as seen here in these screenshots:

Lava cools to form solid rock, vegetation propagates in soil, and moving water quickly erodes terrain. Physical changes to the world occur extremely rapidly, allowing players to restructure islands within minutes.

Tribal shamans alert the player to natural disasters, notably tsunamis and volcanic eruptions, shortly before they occur. These disasters can be inhibited through creative, physical manipulation of the environment: a tsunami can be jellified, wildfires extinguished, and lava flows diverted.

Honestly, if you're a Terragen user or any digital landscape artists, this game will probably get you more creative than ever before!

Game releases on July 20, 2011 on the XBox 360 and Mid 2011 for the PS3 and PC and it's digitally downloaded though I'm not sure that these are the actual release dates at the moment. Prices have not been released yet.

Yes this game been on my radar for a few months. Unfortunately there seems very little information on it, videos, previews etc. I assumed it wasn't going to be released until next year but you mention that it's coming out on the xbox in a few weeks! I'll have to have another search to see if some more info is available on it.
