Testing inverted craters concept... C&C welcome!
I really really wanted to add sort of a chinese temple in top of them, but I could'nt find a good free model in the internet...  ::)

You've got two monumental structures there already! Cute sisters :) There might be some decent models at the Google warehouse if you have the possibility to convert them for TG2.

The relief of the rock faces shows very nicely and there seems to be a great amount of detail on them too. What comes to my mind is that the surrounding clouds looks a little "flat". Maybe some enviro light could help? Also the shadows of the rocks should show on the clouds. (Enable the clouds to "recieve shadows from surfaces")

Google has lots of sketch up models for Google Earth. You can convert them with this https://www.babel3d.com/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2f

Sweet, thanks. Never would of heard of this  :o
It has been eaten.

Thanks everyone for the tips about models! Sure I'll look in google warehouse, and if I find a good one I'll convert it using babel 3d.

@Eikers: The "receive shadows from surfaces" checkbok was actually turned on for that cloud layer. For some reason the shadows were not apparent...

Iteration 2.
found the models at google warehouse  ;D

The model choice is a good one. Now it needs something to make it look like it has been there for a long time.

Will you put some green  in there , Mesocyclone?
Looks good and has more potential for a great image :)

mesocyclone

Yeah I've been thinking about add some green. But not so much, maybe a lone tree near the temple, or some bushes. Also, I've noticed that odd black things in the leftmost stone; they look like shadows or something. This may be related with GI surface details, as I haven't activated it for the previous iteration, my GI settings were 3/3.
Any more ideas, crits or suggestions will be very welcome. I'll be working in the next iteration as long as my job and guitar practice leave me some time to do it ;D

Thanks everyone!

It might be the (lateral) redirect; if the displacements are too big for the smallest size, areas may overlap. You might remedy that by increasing the smallest size and adding the needed small displacements separately after the redirect. If that's what you did to the rocky towers...
I also think the clouds may need a little more work to make them more interesting, perhaps use one of the extra settings, and add a power fractal. Something.

mesocyclone

@Dune:
Thanks for the tip, but I haven't used redirect shader here; It is just a crater with negative depth value and a PF set on Lateral Only. In my previous image that things doesn't appeared, but the settings for the PF were the same...
But I'll try the adjusts you suggested!
I'll also try some more tweaking on the clouds...
