Camera matching for editing and compositing in TG2

OK, couldn't find a thread (maybe wrong search words?) and sorry if I have to bungle my way through this but...

I would like to understand better the camera in TG2. Can some please tell me what is the nature of the camera in TG? That is, is it a camera which simulates a film SLR, movie camera or a digital Camera of some flavor? Or more to the point...

1)If I shoot a foreground with a green screen on an digital SLR (for example) at, say 50mm, then what do I set my render camera to, in order to have the 'same' lens?

2)What is the the practical difference between the TG2 render camera, and a DSLR lens (to sensor), and TG2 and film cameras?

3)What are some good practices for setting up render cameras to match shot footage?

Hope Im understood, was not sure how to ask what Im asking :-\

I would guess that the camera is like a Nikon film camera. Or perhaps some type of movie camera which shots onto film. Terragen 2's camera is very similar to the Lightwave 3.5 camera in many respects. (that is the last version I used extensively) Matt may have used a similar programming model or ray-tracing article to design the T2 render.

Its a dirty hack but you could set up a camera projection of your dslr shot through your render camera and play with the FOV until it matches visually. Or if you know its a 50mm lens simply type in 50mm to your "Focal length in mm" box in camera settings. As far as film settings go that would be a matter for grading in comp anyway.

Ok, i clearly didn't ask my question correctly. I was trying to ask about countering for "Crop factor" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_factor, without knowing what crop factor really was. But since I understand it now (thanks wikipedia) I can answer my own question. Thanks anyway.
