Hello Planetside forum community. We have removed all of the recent discussion surrounding GenTerra and his behavior here. We have no wish to hide the fact that things get unpleasant sometimes, but we all know what happened and some of the discussion ended up getting rather personal, including links to off-forum contact information. Regardless of whether someone might have felt justified in posting that information, as owners of this forum we can't condone nor allow the public display of information people request to be private.

We ask that you all let this issue rest and refrain from further comment or reference to GenTerra or his comments. We also hope you will all consider your contributions to the escalation that occurred. While there is no doubt that GenTerra conducted himself poorly in our otherwise wonderful community, several responses to him also played a part in bringing it to the point where we had to take such drastic action. We don't want to have to do that again and we hope you will all do your part to keep things peaceful and enjoyable here. In particular, we ask that you reconsider before responding to inflammatory messages. No good ever really seems to come from it.

On the subject of copyright violation, this is something that is up to each individual member who posts here to consider before they post their work. We of course do not condone copyright infringement and will immediately remove any infringing work once notified of it. But by posting your work here you do run the risk that someone will copy it and use it for their own purposes without attribution or even notifying you. We cannot prevent that. While it's reasonable to notify the community of an infringing user, personal attacks and posting of private information are not an acceptable response.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I plead guilty for posting personal information, which in retrospect wasn't chique.
What goes around, comes around and this was the consequence of his behaviour.
By no means I'm trying to justify it, just explaining the mechanism.

So, everything is removed, we are all being addressed now to prevent doing this in the future and we stand corrected.
Now, what about GenTerra himself?
Some of us, me too, proposed to ban him and I still think it is not unreasonable/unfair to do so because of heavily disrespectful behaviour and especially copyright violation.

All the bad things which happened recently are a consequence of this and you're 100% right in the things you mention, but I would also expect action to be taken against GenTerra.

Cheers,
Martin

banning him from this forum would be the minimum expected !   >:(
spitting on another renders, acting like an arsehole, and then stealing other's work ?????
c'mon...

You did the right thing Martin !
Good to know the thief's name.
The Hell with politically correct !!!  >:(

Gentlemen, please. Cool your heads! :P Whether you feel it was right to post personal information or not, it is *not* acceptable in this forum. This is not to be "politically correct", nor because we are taking any particular stand on who was right or whether GenTerra's actions were acceptable in regards to the contest submission, etc., we simply don't want to get involved in the kind of personal attacks and unpleasantness that this kind of escalation lead to.

GenTerra is under a post ban, he won't be able to post any further. But that doesn't mean you should continue to deride or otherwise discuss him. Best just to let the issue die.

absolutely everyone (!) has to respect that planetside cannot get involved in any action that touches anyones privacy rights! You have no idea to what extent you can be held liable as a company running a community. We don't want the wrong guy win in the end, do we??? So I expect everyone to be so kind, in respect to this great community, to just move on and to not tip the scales on the wrong end, if you know what i mean.

Of course it is politically correct, Oshyan !!!
You don't want that kind of thing to happen in the forum because you don't want Planetside to be prosecuted for allowing people to post personal information in here.
And you are right, defending your business.

But, yes there is a but, we are not planetside.
We are a bunch of artists/hobbyists/professionals, pissed of by this guy !
And be sure that next time it will happen, we'll share the guy's name, again.
And if Martin will not want to do it, I hope he'll send me a private message, so I'll do it ;D
Maybe even using the name in a render so it will be an artistic denouncement ^^

Anyway, as stated in the previous thread, you are right, we should not talk about this wanker anymore, giving him more importance than he has.

Cheers !

edit : you are faster than I am, Frank ^^

I played no small part in the debacle and its continuation. I don't feel particularly happy to have done so but when I feel offended or otherwise shat on, along with a bunch of other people I respect, by a pompous fool who showed not the slightest hint of respect to anyone the whole time, then proceeded to take artwork from others to pass off under his own name, well, as I posted last night, it's not always as easy as 'just forget about it' all the time.

Not trying to justify myself in acting like a school kid or anything else, I just generally just took an instant dislike to an extremely rude personality who did his best to antagonise and dismiss all of us who tried to, at first, offer help and suggestions on things that he knew nothing whatsoever about.

Apologies to all here, a public forum is not the place for it.

Although, I imagine the popcorn companies made a killing this past few days! :D

It's easy to get caught up in the moment, of course. Hopefully we'll all learn from it. We're all aware of what happened and why, we don't need to rehash it further.
