New rig is here :)

New rig arrived today.

Basic Spec is:
Intel Core i7 2600K
3.4ghz oc'd to 4.7ghz
8 gig ddr3 ram
1TB Harddrive (I'll get more, probably some SSHD's)
Box to put it in
NVidia GeForce GTS 450

The defauly scene renders in 4m20s!
(ok, I tweaked it a bit, ticked RTO & RTA and dropped the bucket size to 128x128)
Un-tweaked default scene was 6m10s

My last system (Intel Core i7 920, similar spec otherwise) renders the same scene in 12m46s.

All I can say for now is I'm VERY impressed, now to throw something heavier at it...

Thanks for putting this here, Richard. I'm thinking of something in that line, so glad you're pleased with it. On my machine this scene takes 27 minutes!
Is it silent? I now work on something you don't hear at all, which is very nice.

Yes its silent, well pretty much, but give it a month of the dust in this place and who knows!
Its BSOD'd once that I know of. I rebooted and carried on, seemed fine. However this morning it was sat there after "recovering from a fatal error" (or some similar phrase). I'm not convinced this was a BSOD crash as my other pc was in a similar state. Both were rendering overnight and the last frame rendered by each was saved within 10min of each other. I'm think a power spike/dip is a more likely suspect.
I've always overclocked my systems and rarely run into problems. This was a factory OC by SCAN COMPUTERS so it was setup by guys who know what they're yr doing.
So the way forward is still more (and better) fans, but also I may have to invest in an Un-interruptible Power Supply.
