Importing OBJ from Poser into Terragen

Hi,...

I have an issue with the everlasting story of importing objects in Terragen (2).

For creating figures an people i use Poser. After modelling the figure i export it, using the *.obj-Format. In Terragen, i "Add Object" --> "obj-Reader" and i cant see it. The obj is in the node-network but not in the preview pane.

First i thought maybe it was to tiny, so i tryed to scale it up. Nothing.
Then i tried to use the zoom, thinking i could be to far away. Nothing.

In the preview i can see the origin, i see the borders (the "box" that defines the dimension) but i can't see no mesh or nothing that is my figure.

To control the import, i opened the *.obj-file in an other Programm. it is visible.

So what is the mistake in the import process or in preparing the obj before importing in Terragen?

There is a button right under 'lighting' with a blue box. Check that out.

As Dune sais - object display mode. You can now check the wireframe, but this will use resources.

Hi,...

thx for your replies ... but there is no button with a blue box. I googled that and find an image of what you ment here: http://terragen.software.informer.com/screenshot/234996/. My bar has only the buttons for shaders, Athmosphere, Lighting, paint shaders and Measuring.

So i checked the Version and find V. 2.0 is the one i use.

I think, the object-box is coming with the versions after 2.0.

airflamesred

Yeah its a new feature. Splash out, d/l ver2.3

Dune

Sorry, I thought that version was available. Anyway, you know it's coming...

Terragen 2.3 is a free upgrade. Use "Check for Updates" in Terragen 2 to get the download link. You're missing out on a lot if you're still on 2.0.

I've never tried from Poser but have no problem with Daz 3d. I set the scale to 1 when saving. Then I run the file through POVray to set up the surfaces, transparency, and bump files. Then I send that to Terragen where I have to set up the bump and trans files again.

I was trying to post a sample pict but couldn't figure out how.

What PoseRay is really useful for I find is creating a Parts list for TG2.3 on .obj's that don't have one. Way back I needed a hooker to pose beside a limo in a scene and a Poser pal made me one which only worked after I ran it thru PoseRay which was my first use...I continue to Td2ify models with it as my first conversion choice[only one really for me] .  ..   ...
