How about that Walli, eh? All the models were created by him, all I had to do was work on distribution and lighting and poof! A nice picture poped into existence. Thanks for taking a look.

Very nice indeed!I have a number of Wallis stuff, but not the dandelion - what site did you get that from? Jonathan.

Thanks guys!

Jonathan, all of the objects are for sale at NWDA http://www.nwdanet.com/home all of the stuff there is very high quality and reasonably priced IMO.

looks really great, kinda dark but good nonetheless.

that looks nice! I´d also say, a tad dark perhaps. But apart from that a nice piece of nature!

Jonathan

Thanks Darth. And thank you Walli. Love your models :)

The render settings were:

Detail: .9
AA: 8
GI: 2/2

It is definitely optimized for my computer monitor, I wanted to have a nice contrast between the shadows and highlights and on my computer it works. I might render it again with some more brightness just to see how it looks.

Walli

thanks Jonathan for your kind words!

About rerendering: thats probably not needed, if you saved the picture as exr you can do a lot of post changes to lighting, much more then you can do with 8bit bmp files where changes result in banding and burn outs. I think slightly adjusting the gamma will give you some more light in the "middle", without loosing the contrast between dark shadows and bright dandelions.

As suggested, I've brightened things up a bit. I changed the sun elevation and added an extra fill light to fill in the darker areas from before. Thanks for taking a look!

I would use the atmosphere ambient light to brighten up the area between the various populations. Beautiful work!
