I would like to thank Dune for the great help with this. I would still be scratching my head.............

It's looking good - the wet rocks are great and the white caps, and the waves themselves are interesting - the problem with TG is being able to easily produce spray where the sea crashes into the cliffs...I wonder if someone could come up with a solution for that! I think the cliffs are missing something - maybe some algae / colouring on the cliff face to give it some interest.....great start!
Every problem is an opportunity, but there are so many opportunities it is a problem!

OK. Now add some more colors to the rock! You can use a line of X and Z stretched power fractals (1 rocky color each, except the first, which may have two colors), that will produce some bands. If you add these as a child to a surface layer, you can diminish the dominance of these bands by reducing coverage. Put this before the reflective surface layer.

I have tried three times to render this. Every time, something has happened to make the computer reboot. This is the last one for this scene............I think it's cursed.
