Greetings,

I have a need for 3D objects that resemble the first land plants to have ever evolved on Earth (400 Myr ago). Attached are some images I grabbed off the web that roughly depict that styles I'm aiming for.    Particular species that interest me are: cooksonia, baragwanathia, and maybe even prototaxites.  Any suggestions, anyone?

Hi,

There is a pack of prehistoric Xfrog plants which might be what you're looking for:

Wow.  Those do look nice.  A shame I can't shell out $149.  Maybe someday when I can make money doing this...
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Try Arbaro to build the plants and Wings3D to modify the mesh, apply texture and export to .obj.  Both are Java/multi-platform. Cost:  $0.00.  -Bill

I have Lightwave, but prebuilt is always better when possible.   ;D

I shelled out the $149 last night, but was not able to successfully download my 1.2 GB purchase.  In my experience, mega-downloads through http links inevitably get stalled.  Sometimes I can use a utility (GetRight, for the PC) to complete the job.  Oddly however, Xfrog's file server cannot resume broken downloads.  I am still waiting to hear back from Xfrog for a solution.  If any of you folks have ideas on this, feel free to chime in!

I have that set which came with the TG2 megabundle. I would have loved my Xfrog whole megabundle to be nothing but fossil species. Once you have eliminated the Mesozoic, Permian and Carbiniferous species, there aren't many left that are Devonian. Even a couple are probably Cenozoic (Caenozoic to Europeans).
