Shadow flap

I did a test render of an animated scene I'm working on and found there are problems with the shadows "flapping", for lack of a better term.  It's most clear on the mountain slopes to the right during the second half of the animation.

I searched here to see what might cause that and what setting to increase to get rid of it, but I haven't found anything that was resolved.  I've disabled the enviro light and added two fill lights to get rid of the GI animation problems.  This was rendered at detail .7, so I don't know if that has any bearing.  Do raytraced shadows was enabled.

Any help appreciated.

Why do I, increasingly, get the opinion that rendering animations in TG2 is 10% black magic, 37% forum research, 49% dependent on the scene/content, and 114.7% trial-and-error?  Yes, that's 210.7%, which is the amount of additional time that you have to spend just figuring out the render settings after you've created your scene.

Just my opinion, but there are far too many knobs to turn that basically no one (except maybe Matt) has a clue as to what they really do.  In the end, does that make a better product?

My brain is going numb reading through mounds of conflicting minutiae on what you should and shouldn't do when rendering.
