So I followed the thread for running tg2 in linux.  I paid the preorder for TG2 Deep and I would rather not have to have a windows machine in my apartment.  I would like  to get TG2 working in linux.

Let me preface  this by saying that I have patched wine and I still have the problem with the opengl child windows having to force a redraw.

So my question is really twofold.  The first question is whether there is a timetable for a linux release or not and also if anyone has gotten this problem resolved in linux  (and if so how).

I am running OpenSuSE 10.2 on AMD Athlon X2 3800+, 2GB DDR PC 3200, GeForce N6600GT PCI-E.

We have no plans for a Linux GUI version at this time. A commandline-only version for render farms may be available in the future but it would not be intended as the primary license for scene creation, etc.

Due to the lack of a Linux version we don't currently provide official support for running TG2 under Linux, however as others have reported it does seem possible. Hopefully someone who has experience in this area can help you further.

I understand your position on official support.  I am just frustrated because after purchasing the software I can't get it to run on Linux like all my other apps do, solely because of the way Wine handles opengl child windows.  I figure  there has to be an answer and I figured people on the Planetside forum might know.

Wouldn't it be nice to just get a native linux version of terragen?
