In partnership with Ranch Computing, we are excited to announce the upcoming availability of affordable, high speed Terragen 2 rendering on the Ranch rendering platform.

We have been working with Ranch to setup the best possible service we could offer, and we're now very close to opening up the service for all to use. Both animations and stills can be rendered by the system, and the speed is just unbelievable! We used the 3850 frame Garden of Eternity scene for many of our tests, as well as doing final rendering on the farm, and what would have literally taken months on a home system was done in a day or two. Renders that would take days or weeks on a dual CPU workstation can finish in hours or less. Even better, they're continually expanding their capacity, so things just get faster and faster.

Ranch also has some of the best pricing in the industry, and multiple priority levels to accommodate you whether you need something done ASAP, or can wait a bit and save some money. There are options for everyone.

Here's a teaser of the Garden animation, which you'll be able to see in full soon:

This 215 frame sequence rendered in about an hour and a half on the Ranch and would have taken a week or more on a single workstation.

I just got an erection.
It has been eaten.

Me too. For two hours now. That really hurts! ;D

Yeah it is known that extreme displacements can be problematic   ;D

Great news, and very looking forward to finally seeing the Garden animation. And I'd be keen to know the costs involved too.

Pricing will be the same as for their other applications on a dollar-per-ghz-hour basis at least. Obviously TG2 performs differently than other apps, but they have basic calculators on their page and will have one for TG2 soon so you can get an idea of how much time it would take and how much a particular project would cost.

I'm a noob on these rendering services.

Do I need to to connect my network to their rendering services in order to work for faster rendering times?

I'm not a specialist so correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you just need to send them your project, they render it on their own computers (each computer render 1 frame, so as they have lot of computers they can render lot of frames at the same time) and when it's done you just have to download the final images.
(sorry for my English, I'm french)

When will the service be available?

Vine is correct, you package up your scene file and assets (objects, textures, terrains) and send to them for rendering. The system can handle animations as well as high resolution still frames.

We expect this service to be available within the next few weeks.
