My 1st "Real" render
thanks to a particular 'making of the golden forest' tute: this is my take on it

Very nice. Did you check "Receive shadows from surfaces" under the quality tab of the cloud layer you used as mist? If not, this could add some nice rays. Be aware that this renders a lot longer, but it's worth it.

Another idea: I don't think you really need GI here. You could reduce computing time (not render time) if you'd use the fill light setup I have attached here. I think Oshyan made this. I couldn't find it here, otherwise I would have posted the link.
Insert the clip file, delete the
imported
sun and the default environment light. In the render tab give GI sample quality and GI relative detail a value of 0, since you don't need it here.
You can adjust the colour of the fill lights if necessary.
