I plan on using the HD3000 on-board GPU in my new Intel i7-2700K based setup. Good idea in conjunction with TG Deep?

It should work fine. Performance in the 3D preview (with objects/populations) may not be the best however.

Be careful with upgrading drivers for that internal GPU. I have a different internal GPU on the same system, and TG2 crashed all the time after updating for better skies in the preview. So I reverted back to the initial drivers, and the sky is not good, but it doesn't crash anymore.
I think after all, you might even be better off with an extra graphics card, but I'm not sure. I use mine for rendering only, so I don't have to see the sky anyway.

I believe the newer ones, of which the HD3000 is one, should be decent. What specific model do you have Dune?

I only know this: Intel Core i7-2600K/3.4GHz- LGA1155 socket L3 8MB on an ASUS P8Z68-V Mobo ATX LGA1155 Socket Z68. Don't know the type of internal GPU.

Ah, well, HD3000. ;) So, not such good news I guess.

Yeah, that CPU comes with the same iGPU as the 2700k. Thanks for the feedback. I will give it a shot and if it's unbearable I will add a discrete GPU. I was just hoping to save some cash as the HD3000 gets good reviews for anything other than gaming and professional video editing. Of course, Ivy Bridge chips now come with HD 4000 graphics, but I will banish that thought from my mind right away :)
