I've worked on this one for a while now. It'll still take a lot of time before its completely done, but so far its worth it.
There are 1684 frames in this animation. The whole animation will have 3600 frames. Render times are 10 minutes per frame.
Patience is a virtue...

Love the strips of green grass next to the black shadows as the camera moves, before the sun is up. Its all good though.

I expect we would all give up some of our "virtue", for faster render times  ;)
It has been eaten.

The rays are just plain awesomeness :)
I really like this animation and I think it deserves a bit higher quality, especially here and there in the animation.
What's the average time per frame and on what type of machine?

You indeed have a lot of patience! :D

It takes about 10 minutes per frame.
Machine:
Mainboard: Asus p6t se
CPU: i7 990 extreme with Corsair H70 hydro cooling
Mem: 24GB DDR3 (1066)

Not overclocked.....yet

I've thought about contacting renderfarm, but thats way beyond my budget. And since this is only a hobby, I'm not willing to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on an animation. I'll just wait and be patient.
Would a system with 2x G34 Opteron 12 cores be usefull? That would give me 24 cores.

So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Harddrive crashed at frame 2659....that was the last thing I could see, before my hdd made a click-clackety-toing kinda noise, spinned down and halted forever....
Downside: all frames lost. Upside: project files are stored on dropbox so I get to do it all over again.
