I see your vision. I like your composition. The tree branch crawls out over the distant rock outcrop, nicely following the contour of that outcrop - did you intend this? The owl is a nice touch, but it should be demoted in the scene because it looks modeled (like a decoy). Lower the view so the tree's base is eminating from the ground. Widen the field of view so that you have more branch in view - that branch, being barren, brings drama to the image. Examine your clouds because they look a bit on the fake side. They don't need to be that dark for good effect, but if you want to keep them that dark have one releasing rain in the distance, maybe even a thunderbolt way off.

I still think those (as others have said for the other image) mounds in the background are great! I really like em'.

Thanks Pat. What you see was intended. I tried what you suggested regarding the point of view of lowering it to capture more foreground and the tree's base; however, doing this screws up my expectation of the composition ...so, I decided to leave it as it was. The clouds? believe me when I say these are not too out of order. Out here where we have quite a violent monsoon season, I often see such ominous formations. Again, I will leave them as they are. The Snowy Owl probably looks as it is because of the white and black contrasty coloration. Perhaps another owl model of earthy coloration might work better. Funny you mentioned the bolt of lightning; I tried this with also adding a light source at the top of it. Unfortunately, the light source came out very grainy and I elected to not use it. Appreciate your critique Pat.
