Well, it may be true that global views tend to appear a bit flat,
but in that special case, the main problem was that I typed "0,7" instead of "0.7" at a crucial point.
Made some other minor adjustments and rendered it bigger, because I can ;).
This may be my best Mars yet. I don´t know.

Marvellous works!

Especially your "White Mars" is looking excellent.
I wish i will be able to achieve a quality result like you did as i want/need to create exactly such kind of planet soon for my own project (just with less craters)..  :)

Thanks!
Glad you like my white Mars, here come red and green again for now.
May I ask about your project, Bjur? Thanks for calling my Mars a quality result, I feel honoured. Still I think most of the Quality in my result is due to better and better data from the real Mars.

Do you see it? I know the direction is unrealistic, but thats artists licence.

Here comes one of my old and most complex yet, yes, green Mars. Didn´t render one of these since I got the deep version.

Slightly Photoshopped to get rid of the strange terminator shadow.
And I do really look forward to the vortex shader!

Cheers,
Jan

Hey Mahnmut.

Another classy versions!

It isn't exactly Mars i wanted to (re-)create. I just have to create myself an snowy, icy planet/moon in the near future for a sci-fi short project of mine, WIP titled "Welcome Home".

Planned was a cold planet (where some action takes place) which is orbiting maybe a huge gas giant in a solar system with 2 suns, with shots farer away and also closer ones.
The look and visual quality of your planets, especially of your final "White Mars" were matching my idea/vision of a snow planet and wanted look/visual quality i'm aiming at very well.  :D

Me too was thinking about "raping" licence free HQ ESA/NASA HQ data's of known celestials. Thought about reworking and mixing maps and pics for creating a new extraterrestrial surface/texture of a planet.
For orbital shots too, i want to mash up HQ orbital shots from snowy/icy parts of some of the earth's (pole) regions and other coastlines - which have to be matched and merged.

About the project itself, i just posted 2 test animations with the same simple scene but different settings till yet which isn't very related to actual content or dimensions.
But the scene shows the direction of the undertone/mood i'm working with..

I'm still at an early stage of the project due to lack of 24 additional hours every day needs and just messing around now reworking my snow and surface/rocks (they are killing me!!) and waiting for needed features and other possible enhancements i hope TG.3 will/could deliver..  :)

Greetings, Alex

Some more "early terraforming" views.

Nrs two and three are looking from aureum chaos over hydraotes chaos towards aram chaos on top.

I love all your Mars stuff, just a pleasure to look at all the different variations you have come up with.

Awesome planetary renders.

more please, I am in heaven , almost!
:)

Mahnmut

Thanks for all your kind words!
I am flattered!
Any wishes? Some region you would like to see? Some flavour? Red, green, blue, white?
I´d like to make some closeups with vegetation, but the mola-shader (which is great) doesn´t work easily with populations it seems.
Anyway, I am at home with a cold, lots of time for Mars.
Cheers,
J

MacGyver

Great work! Keep it up and get well soon, I also caught a cold ;)

I'm a fan of Star Trek, so maybe the glowing terraforming effect of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan would be nice  8)
