Simple shape shader?

I cant find out how to make one. Am I just blind? or is it not on the list of shaders you can make?

It's a Colour Shader. Create Shader - > Colour Shader - > Simple Shape Shader

That would be why, latest version (free as well as licensed) is 2.4.32.1! Quite a bit has changed since 2.0.3.1. You can download the latest free version here:

Do they still have those stupid detail caps on rendering?

Yes, detail is limited to 1.0 or less (we don't recommend using over detail 1 for licensed users either though) and antialiasing is limited to 3. There is also a limit of 3 simultaneous populations. Render resolution is limited to 800x600. All other features and functions are intact (except animation capability, which also a paid upgrade for the licensed deep version).
