Hi.

Would be nice if the ability to render out landmarks (like the flag) were possible as an option.

I mostly do not rely on the 3d preview for questions of scale or distance. So being able to render out the landmarks (including a future 2d human figure) would be very beneficial particularly in the early stages of setting up a scene. This would more easily allow me to more quickly make decisions about scale and distance when setting up the basics of a terrain.

Thanks for reading.

I don't know whether this is a common feature or not in other packages, but it seems to me that if you want it to render, you shouldn't use Landmark, rather use any other actual object and simply hide/disable it when you no longer want it to render.

I thought of that too, and of course it would work like you suggest. But the flag is already there, easy to size for hight and very light. No teed to make an obj, tgo, whatever. Just tick a box and go.

Just a request. I wont hate you if you say no.  ;)

The same could be said of a sphere though, yes? Easy to size, "light", etc...

I'm not the one who would make the final call on this, I'm just trying to figure out if there is existing functionality that does the job well already. My understanding of "landmarks" is that they're explicitly not supposed to render, that's basically one of their features, the difference between them and regular objects. So it seems odd to me to request that they be renderable. ;) But I may just not be aware of what other applications can do with them, or other conventional uses.

I think I remember others mentioning how they use the spheres. I haven't thought of a use for them my self yet. I don't find anything relatable about a sphere, so I don't attempt to use it in this context.

I do use the flags almost exclusively though, from the available objects list when is come to scale and distance.  But I am not asking for a new object, I have already done that (the human figure) And I was told its possible by jo. So I am quite happy that its on one of your minds, understanding that its not a top priority.

In this case Yes I could make something on my own now that would do an even better job of what I use the flag for (other than marking position from space). But being able to do this my self is a new ting for me. For a log time TG2 was the only 3d software I used. And it would have been nice to have the option then. As I imagine other new users would benefit now.

But the point is ease of use and best use of my time. And being able to render the flag would be a quick and good solution, as opposed to modeling an object and continuously loading it up for a job the inbuilt flag can already do.

If the flag had a specific purpose when it was created, I am not suggesting that be undone. Only added to. Of course I have no idea how hard or how much time that would take for planetside to do. I just imagine it must be a simple thing given how complex software development is in general, relative to the flag its self.

But like I said, it would just be nice to have. Its not a deal breaker.

Gotcha. Thanks for the additional detail.
