Question about GPU rendering

Hi all, I've been away for a while, still working with Terragen of course!
I was wondering how far development has come in the last years. New Versions are still taking a long time to render certain scenes. How hard would it be to implement something like GPU rendering? I know there was talk of this a few years back, but never found out if it would be possible. Any thoughts?

I'm afraid we have no immediate plans for GPU rendering. The support for it from nVidia, ATI, and 3rd parties is improving all the time and it's certainly something we keep up-to-date on, but there are still significant challenges to actually converting primary rendering in Terragen to run effectively on current GPUs.

Okay, just wondering really... And other pipeline improvements, like Ray-Tracing stuff? Anything in planning?

Oh we're always working on interesting stuff, of course. All I can say is keep an eye on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ as we do occasionally release teasers of new features and capabilities.

The last sneak preview/early look on Facebook was april the 1st.....2011 ;)
The last ray-tracing related (big) change was RTO and RTA, somewhere in 2010.
Just stating facts, nothing more, but I guess there's not much to show?

October 2011 by my reckoning. There aren't always "tease-worthy" features up-coming though (by which I mean things that are interesting with minimal information - many new features require more than just a tidbit to be worthy of anticipation). And in truth social media has not been a top priority for a while, but I'm working on doing a better job of communicating on Facebook, Twitter, and G+ and I do think there are things worth talking about. Of course regardless of whether we're dropping hints, interesting development is ongoing.

=/= Facebook, which I was talking about. (may be all 3 social media should contain the same information? Unless you expect your audience to use and keep track of all 3?)

edit, cutted 80%: never mind.

To be honest, I don't use any social media, just because it isn't social toward the people around me, a principle thing. I did subscribe to the anouncements thread on this forum though, hoping such things would be divulged here first... No matter, just keep working on stuff, and tell us when it's ready ;D
