I saw Ulco's heather bushes and had to give them a try.  My concept for this image was to try and get the feeling that someone with a camera was walking along this pond and just happened to crouch down and take a quick snapshot.  It has a rushed feel to it, maybe the angle is off, and the focus is not quite right, maybe they needed to hurry back to whoever they were walking with.

All credit goes to Walli and Ulco's model making ability.

I really like this.  ;D

True to life image Ryan, I like this one.

Hannes

Fantastic! The depth of field adds a lot to realism. You're a fan of chromatic abberation too, aren't you? ;D

ajcgi

I really like this. Everything about it is appealing in its realism. It really looks like the kind of photo I take to remind me to go back to somewhere. Hurried, wonky, blurred.
How have you achieved the DOF blur?

Dune

Very nice, Ryan. I like this. And with a bit of blur my heather isn't so bad up close, is it?

Sweet work Ryan, great to see you're still a bit into TG2 :)

Thanks all,

@Hannes - Yes!  I find a little chromatic aberration can really help a scene like this.  It can add the impression of a little more separation between the foreground objects and the background areas.

@Dune - The heather is a really great model, thanks for making it available.  It is tricky close up since the leaves are on such obvious planes, but the blur hid that pretty well.

@ajcgi - Thanks,  the depth of field was done with an alpha version (search the forums for more information on this) but it is generally easier and can have smoother results by rendering out a depth mask and adding the depth of field in the gimp or photoshop.

@Martin - Wish I had more time, but maybe it is one of those things where you just have to make more time for rendering.

I have a soft spot for realism.  Lovely work!!

Martchi

Wonderful and excellent work, bravo!

This image gives me a feeling of summer.

Great depth and the dry/fresh shrubs with, I guess, willows in the background makes it really come to life.

Cheers

Thanks TerrMite.  The background trees are actually Walli's Sweet Seduction Cherry Tree - You can find it here if you are interested: http://nwdanet.com/buy/8-object-packs/12-trees/57-sweet-seduction-cherry-tree
