Getting more and more realistic, it's nice watching this develop. I think the ground could use a bit of color variation (just subtle), and the cactus model looks a bit "stiff" and repetitive. But otherwise looking nice.

Nice progress you're making JAF. With few exceptions will you find the Saguaro near red rock. That exception would be 'Red Mountain' northeast of Phoenix. That mountain is a dark reddish brown unlike what you would see in Sedona.

For the most part, the mountains around Arizona have that reddish/brown with a tad of purple shade. The heaviest stand of Saguaro that I have seen is around Waddell en route to Wickenburg, Arizona northwest of Phoenix.

Looking forward to seeing your work in progress.

Here's another update -- a little more color (dry, dead looking leaves) in the vegetation and getting one of the background terrains back in the image.

I backed off into World Machine to try and get a more classic looking "monument."  I think this scene is coming around -- I always seem to get something I like and screw it up, but I think this is better.  I'm still not satisfied with the top of the monument, but I believe I can fix that.

A few suggestions: sparsly spaces, scrubby trees going right up to the base of the monument, and "crumble" the lower base around the monument to simulate the pile of broken stone typical in this typeof image. Overall I like the general layout.

Yes, it needs some large rocks at the base.  I was using the photo below as a reference (obvious sky replacement by whoever posted it on the Internet.)
