Hello everyone!
After scouring a few likely corners of the forum, I have found this nugget of information, on how to get 'dashed road lines' for instance:
http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,11859.msg120068.html#msg120068
Has anyone got a screen grab of what this node set up looks like, or even a basic clip file that could help a mathematically challenged inky?
:)

Basically it's a get position in texture, x (or Z) to scalar, a multiply scalar for the distances between the lines, a sinus. It should be on the forum somewhere. But if you get either NWDA products regarding roads, you've got it all set up for you  ;)

Thanks Ulco... that gives me a start... much as I love Frank's road, I am determined to find out how things work, and then implement those ideas my own way...
For me other people's TGDs are useful only to a point, as we all think and work in different ways!

Ok...thanks again, after a while of playing with 2 sin scalars and merge nodes... I discovered that all I needed was 1 sin and some colour adjusts along with a sss to create some nicely spaced white lines...
I am happy!
onwards and upwards!

I totally agree with you, Inky; experimenting is the fun part.
