Hello there,

I had been playing with Terragen 0.9 for some time until I decided to move to TG2 two weeks ago. I eventually obtained my first real picture recently, viewable at
http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/56605395/?q=by%3Asyagre&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps

As a little note, I used the free version of the tech preview, meaning that I was limited to 3 populations... and also, because of all the grass in the foreground, it took more than 7 hours to render the pic with a brand new Core 2 Duo  :-\

Comments are welcome...

nice!!

I should of said :
QuoteI used the free version of the tech preview
to, cause i am :p

+ remember duo Processors arent used yet, it only uses one core...So when its released should be 2X faster (depending on ram)

Population was laid out nicely.  Very good grass and clouds.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Very nice clouds, quite realistic. The grass also works fairly well. The ground texturing would probably be better with some more variation. The lighting and density on the populations here also highlights the lack of color variation unfortunately. There are workarounds to this discussed around the forums. For example here: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=1187.0

Overall good work, especially for a "first" image.

Thanks for these appreciations !
I'll surely poke my nose around these other threads of the forum. I think I need indeed some improvements for texturing, and also for terrain building. Perhaps also having a more varied populations (with more sorts of grass and trees) would have helped too... meaning that I should invest in the "un-free" version of TG2  ;D
