Yeah, it could be overkill pretty fast. But for me, I haven't seen too much yet, so it still seems new. I didn't like the apple page after a few times either though. Probably mostly because it did not have all the info I wanted?
But the movie page is nice because rather than the page changing as you scroll, only parts of the images within the window box moves. But the motion stops when you stop scrolling, allowing you to read without distraction.
Yeah, things like this have to be done sparingly. OR you would risk pissing off everyone who comes to your site. But Im a strong believer that "artists" pages need to be in them selves, art/entertainment. Seeing your portfolio should be an experience while somehow managing to maintain the classic academic nature of a portfolio.
Its a tricky business! Made even more so by the long list of services and options, and specialized tech jargon. So I for one would listen rather closely to community members who want to share info on the subject. Im rather lost in the woods right now... Or maybe an analogy of trying to pick a new car on a lot filled with every kind of new car, would be better?.. See Oshyan! I dont even know what analogy to use!!
