Basic Tutorials

Hi guys,
I am a new user of Terragen, picked up the free version of TG2 about a 3 weeks ago, I feel like I am walking through thick mud.

I am trolling through youtube and looking for tuts but no luck in finding any that drill down to the grass roots.
Are there any basic tutorials that actually explains the settings for the terrains, atmospheres and what the nodes do and how to use them?

  yes i know I could sit my bum down and bang away and work out what everything does and write it down for reference but really don't fancy writing a book

Hello

The tutorial shown above may be interesting, but I only own one single computer with only one single screen. So a video tutorial is completely useless in this configuration unless I jam my fingers with repeating Alt-Tab presses !!!

Is there any real tutorial to start from a very basic level with TG3 that one can print ?

I tried the tuto for TG2 (there is nothing for TG3) : http://planetside.co.uk/docs/tg2/first-scene.pdf but I am stuck at the first command :

Left-click on the Heightfield generate node to bring up its settings below. At the bottom of the Heightfield generate node settings you will see the 'Generate Now' button.

... where is this "heightfield generate node" ?

Or as an alternative, is there a mean to get TG1 so that I could still use and modify my landscapes...

The default TG3 scene doesn't come with that node.
If The "Terrain" tab is selected by clicking the "Add Terrain" bar on the left you will see the "heightfield generate" node Fred.

Frankly, Im a little surprised to still be seeing threads like this one. There are lots of instructional materials now.
