Hello to all the Members :)

Houston, i have a problem!
I cant get the right photolook to my renders and i dont know why.
Have tried the article from Oshyan http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,6442.0.html
and of course http://www.planetside.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,8300.0.html
If you take a brief look at Terragen Channel on G+ you will notice "PeterKnight"
there you can see what i mean, i hope so. Look at all other rendering and compare it with my one....

Why i dont get the right result?
Can anybody help me please?

Best regards

That's a lovely image and I can't for the life of me figure out how it disappoints you. Maybe mention some of the things that you don't like and we can attack the problem from that angle. Also you might want to upload the .tgd file as then we can inspect the guts of it.
Again...a really nice image.

I agree, that's a pretty nice image. The only notable issues I see are the low texture quality of the foreground tree (that's a known problem with that model; you could try adding some procedural texture over the top, inside the object Parts Shader...), and the banding in the sky which is probably just due to JPG compression. You could also use some more variation in size and color for the grass - use the new color tint options in the population (v4) for example, and ideally you could use some more varieties of models. But in terms of the scene in general, it's quite nice.

I would also say that probably the tree in the foreground really jumps into your face, because of the texture. Probably try a different one, like Bobs Bristlecone Pine, that one usually works better close up.

Look at he render above thats from an artist in a G+ Circle Terragen: Terje Hannisdale
This is photorealistic! But mine looks more like "Computer made off"
Ok, i´ll try a similiar scene just witht Mountains and Water and you will see the difference

or

Look at Marcos Silveira´s pictures. Simple but looks great also. But i cant get those images to "life" you know what i mean?

Dune

Don't forget that these are basically quite simple landscapes, with nothing complicated in the foreground. In fact everything is in the background. That is far easier to make photoreal, IMHO.

PeterParker

Ah, ok thats a good hint. And which setup do i use for the complicated path? :)
I´m right now in a renderprocess and i will show you what i mean.
My landscapes are also pretty simple but the Mountains look more like anything else but not photorealistic.

Kind regards

But what exactly are to talking about? The render quality, or the shape and form of your mountains?

Look forward to seeing your render example.
It has been eaten.

Dune

Me too. We'll see what we can do about it.
