Sorry, another newbie question I know. Can .ter files be imported somehow in TG3 or is it a deprecated format?

Go to your terrain tab in TG3. Click on add terrain...................you will get a drop down menu. Select heightfield load...............I think you can take it from there.

You can also save TER files by right-clicking a heightfield node and choosing Save As. Supported formats are TER and EXR (be sure to put the correct file extension!).
